Dr Dan Beers

Dr Dan BeersDaniel J. Beers MD is an ophthalmic surgeon specializing in laser vision correction and cataract surgery. He has successfully performed up to 11,000 LASIK, cataract and EVO & ICL lens implant procedures. Dr. Dan Beers was the Chief of Ophthalmology at El Camino Hospital and he has taught the latest techniques to the ophthalmology residents at Stanford University. As an expert in his field, Dr. Beers has given presentations about advances in laser vision correction to the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He has been named a “Top Ophthalmologist in Silicon Valley” by San Jose magazine and was recently listed as one on “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

Dr. Beers uses the newest generation of the excimer and femtosecond laser systems to provide patients with the safest and most accurate form of laser vision correction available. He has treated many physicians in the Bay Area and has had laser vision correction himself. Dr. Beers prides himself on careful personalized planning of each LASIK surgery to maximize patient safety and quality of vision.

As an expert in cataract surgery, Dr. Beers utilizes a small incision to allow for rapid recovery for his patients.

He implants a variety of the most advanced intraocular lenses including light adjustable and extended depth of field lenses to allow patients to see well in the distance as well as up close. Dr. Beers is asked to give frequent presentations to other physicians concerning the latest advances in intraocular lenses. He is also one of the few surgeons in the area to complete advanced training to implant the EVO implantable collomer lens for patients that are not candidates for either laser vision correction or cataract surgery.

Dr. Beers was raised in San Jose and graduated as the valedictorian at Cupertino High School. He attended UC San Diego where he graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa while winning the NCAA Tennis Doubles Championship and becoming an NCAA All-American. Dr. Beers completed medical school at the prestigious UC San Francisco where he graduated in the top tier of his class. His advanced ophthalmology training was completed at Oregon Health Sciences where he participated in early FDA studies concerning the excimer laser and laser vision correction.

Dr. Beers is an active member of the Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He speaks fluent Spanish and has traveled to Peru and Mexico to provide charity medical care. He enjoys outdoor activities such as golf and biking and resides in Los Altos with his wife Katie.
