Dr Lee Shahinian
Serving those in Mountain View and the San Jose area, Lee Shahinian, MD is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with over 25 years experience specializing in diseases and surgery of the cornea.
Dr. Shahinian grew up in Los Altos and graduated from Pomona College. He received his medical degree and residency training in ophthalmology at Stanford University and completed a fellowship in corneal diseases and transplant surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. After serving in the Air Force for two years, Dr. Shahinian returned home. He has been in private practice in Mountain View since 1978, and joined the Peninsula Laser Eye Medical Group in 2003.
Dr Lee Shahinian established the Laser Vision Correction Program at Stanford University Medical Center and served as Program Director from 1993 to 1996. As a Clinical Professor at Stanford, he is actively involved in teaching ophthalmology residents.
Dr. Shahinian’s early interest in laser vision correction dates from 1989, when four of his patients were the first people in California to be treated with the excimer laser to correct myopia. His commitment to innovation has continued with the development of analgesic eye drops and surgical instrumentation.
Dr. Shahinian is a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He and his wife live in Los Altos and have two grown children. Dr. Shahinian enjoys studying history and is an enthusiastic amateur musician.
